Hi,

Is there any news about the 3D Displayer product?

I've read it worked with popular available active shutter glasses and that it works with non 3D displays.

What I want to know is....

Does it work with my display? (In my case a Sony VPL-VW60)

When can I buy one? (Feb?)

And.. really anything else... I'm excited about this product. My projector isn't 3D ready or 3D compatable but otherwise I adore it.

I can already watch the anaglyph stuff that's available and while it's no where near the active shutter 3D Blu Rays of todays world... It compares directly to the 3D movies I saw in the theaters in the 80's and such.

I've been collecting 3D Blu Rays whenever possible because I figure eventually I'll have a 3D setup but if the 3D Displayer will work for me then that could be this year!

Nope. I mean the 3D-VIP 3D Displayer product.

Unless they are the same thing... which I sort of doubt but then again....

Complete news, pre-orders, and so on for 3D-Displayer will be provided at CurtPalme.com once the information is ready.

If there was news I could tell I would be telling it. Wink

Jonathan,

Any idea if the Theater version will be available for order and ship in the same timeframe? That one's the Holy Grail if it lives up to claims.

Also, it's unclear whether these two (Displayer and Theater) will be DLP glasses compatible for 120hz devices or whether they will be active shutter/emitter only. Any clarification on that one?

Thanks.

3D-Theatre is the Holy Grail!!! It will live up to its claims, rest assured. It will be released in Q1, 2011. Both, Displayer and Theatre are DLP compatible as well as active shutter /emitter compatible for 60Hz/100Hz/120Hz.

Wow! Thanks Jonathan. That gives me pause on buying the Optoma solution. I've waited this long. I think I'll wait until this thing shakes out a little more. A month or two more won't kill me (hopefully!).

Jonathan:

If you decide you want to do any external testing on this product, I have a hometheater that would envy anybody's < 100k. I can put it through its paces and test it well if you're interested. I'm admittedly not much of a gamer but I'm an avid videophile and connosoueir. I've had HDTV in my home since 1999 if that tells you anything. I'm an avid poster over at AVS and operate under the username Wilson-Flyer over there if you want to look at any of my experience.

I would be honored just to even be considered to alpha/beta test Displayer and Theater.

No expectations. Just throwing out the invitation.

I don't want to be a tester... I want to buy it. I'm very hungry for details.

Looks like just what the new style of 3D really, really needs: a way to view it without buying a new display.

I'm sure it works but am still curious about what it's limitations will be. I check here and the VIP-3D website nearly every day now.

Once we have complete information it'll be provided and pre-orders will start.

Sorry to be vague but it's always better to say nothing until all the specs are finalized than to release information in tidbits when it may change and then require corrections.

Not only does it cause a lot of user confusion but having the manufacturer (and me) spend time responding to speculative questions about a product that's not done or available yet results in delaying the release of the product too. That's not something anyone wants.

As well, the last thing anyone wants is to pre-order a product based on intented features/specifications only to have those change.

So who here are testing this and are they testing it with CRT displays ? Just my opinion but if you are going to sell this to forum members it should also be tested by forum members first or before released for sale.... Bugs are bugs Wink

I'm not handling the testing. Testers are most likely under NDA. Suggestions noted.
