About a week ago I started to be unable to use my PowerDVD 8 to watch anything. The start of the program caused an error "CLHelper.exe" has problems and forced to close.

I jumped through a lot of hoops and forums to finally find the answer:

Anti-virus SW seems to be conflicting with the launch of CLhelper which seems to lead to an inability to play any media "unsupported media" messaging.

Simply turning off Avast was not sufficient. I had to uninstall it as no changes to the configuration seemed to work.

The same was true for those using Avira except tehy were able to sufficiently disable it to get it to launch CyberDVD.

So I thought others would have the same problem and wanted to post the solution to save a few the pain of trying to debug it.

Thanks for the heads up as I have PDVD and generally install Avast or Avira. Currently though the HTPC is stand alone with no internet access thus no need for anti-virus, at least for now.
