Hi,
I am looking for wall sconces for my home theatre. Can anyone recommend to me places/online stores that they've had a good experience with?

I am in Ontario, Canada so something in Canada would be pererrable to avoid duties. I know there is an amazing site called Lamps Plus, but they are US.

Any comments welcome!

Thanks,
Dan

I use their Pendant lights in my Restaurant, they have a nice selection.

You may check Hinkley Home Lighting website for wall clones.

Personally, I do not understand why sconces are so f-ing expensive. The manufacturing cost cannot be more than that of a common $5 household lamp, yet it is more common to find the bulk of everyone's offerings to be >$150 than <$50 Its almost easier to just make you own sconces using a $5 base lamp from any Home Depot light and find/make something to put over it.

I bought some cast plaster (?) ones from Mendards (a local home center). You paint them any way you want. I used a watercolor 'stain' to color mine and then painted gold paint accents on them. Sadly they only have one style available but I think they look good for the price (sub $20).
They don't paint the light from top to bottom on the wall; only up, so they don't offer much in the way of a 'bowtie' wash on the wall... but for the price I couldn't be happier.

Wan is right in a way....you can make them yourself and their style would only be limited by your imagination and fabrication skills. If you had the $$$ for high end fixtures you wouldn't be posting this question... so just take a shot at making your own. What do you have to lose? Wink

Menards had some white ceramic sconces like this for $15. I painted them black with some cheap spray paint. They look great!

Shop around you might find something cheap locally that you can modify to fit your needs.

No Mernards here! Sad

RONA does sell ceramic sconces. Occassionally they are on sale around the $15 CDN mark.

On another note ... I was considering an opaque 'button' style lamp (1" diameter) to recess into the column case and then mount something decorative over it. Must find smallish button style lamps that can take line voltage, or rewire the circuit at the sub panel to low-voltage.

I got mine from www.wallsconceuniverse.com. They have a very wide selection from cheap to expensive, and every style inbetween. I think mine were $75 a piece. Not sure about the Canadian piece, but I can vouch for their service and product.
