Hello,

I guess that projectors similar to the Epson 9500UB are flourishing these days.
I mean projectors that have a high light output with rather average minus performance or low light output with good to very good performance (calibration wise).
I cannot cope with the low light output so I am trying to calibrate the Cinema day preset which is fine by default.
I am using very good calibration equipment (X-rite Hubble, Quantumdata 780 pattern generator and Calman 4 software), nevertheless the results are bad. Compared to the results the default setting for this preset are excellent.
Something is wrong, i know.
Can anybody here share his experience with this kind of projectors? What are the necessary compromises in order to improve the high light output presets, not ruin them?

Thank you

O.k. your for real and not spam. Sorry about that. The low post count [2] and non- CRT post threw me.

Non-CRT post in the Digital room. Oh dear, now that is acknowledging reality. Check! Very Happy

Bigger question is why this individual isn't posting in AVS (or is he)?

Hello,

Am i missing something?
Did i post in the wrong place?
If so, then I am sorry, but if not
What's all the chit-chat?
I mean, is it possible to ask for help in your forum AND in avsforum without triggering an alarm?

95% of the people that frequent here are CRT owners, so most of us have zero experience with digitals. I'm guessing for this one you'll get more response at the avsforum.

Wow, Curt, in person...
Well, ok then.
I didn't know that.
Sorry for the fuss.
And thank you.

No fuss at all! No biggie!

Can you tell us more about how the results are bad? Post some delta-E or gamma graphs, perhaps?

Do you know what the Epson is doing in the "Cinema Day" mode to make the image brighter? Is something you're doing with the controls fighting a pre-loaded gamma curve or something?

Perhaps Kal or somebody from SpectraCal can help if you give some more information.
