So I was able to score two LCD's customers were throwing out and replacing. Both have their own problems.

First up is a Toshiba 46LX177. After warming up 10-15 minutes, a set of interlace lines go across the bottom 25% of the screen. Not visible on the left, to wide on the right. Image doubling (stretching) occurs in these lines.

After about 25 minutes, the lines move to the next 25% of the screen, but the double/stretched image happens on the whole lower half.

You can let the set cool for about 5-10 minutes and the lines will move back to the bottom. A (not very good) service center said he needed a new LCD screen, but it seems to me that the display is fine. I've tried a few things, but haven't been able to narrow down an exact board that may be causing the problem.

Next set is a Samsung LNT5265. Unit was hard to come on, and then finally didn't. Diagnosed bad caps on the power supply board and replaced those. Unit now comes on fine, but I have vertical lines on each side. I'm thinking this may be a delamination issue and I can twist the LCD panel a bit and make the lines get worse/change color. Possibly the T-Con board?

Any ideas on either? Willing to risk around $150 a panel, but would like to have a better idea of possible problems.

Question on both sets. Does the problem show up on the menu's also?

And yes I know its a Toshiba, not a Hitachi, lol.

Doh... Toshiba.... Fixed.

I can't find a menu on the samsung that goes over that far. Firing up the Toshiba to check it.

Toshiba menu shows doubling and black lines as well.

This model Toshiba had a problem with the panel but it was based on certain serial numbers. They were replacing panels for free but the specifics of original owner requirement were NOT stated. Go to this site and put in your model number, then select notices and put in your serial number and see if it applies.

Not effected.. Dang it. I guess do any of these look like panel delamination to you? If so I'll quit wasting time.

I figured it would come up not affected. Most come up that way but have the same consistent problem. I think that's the cover up, "yes there is a problem but it seems yours is not affected"....... yeah, right!!!!

It hasn't been confirmed as being the panel specifically but is depends on what parts are attached to the film and what ones are not. As far as delam.........hmmmm....I'm not convinced of that.....

The specific source of that problem has not been identified even though there are a large number that are affected. And Toshiba surely wont tell you.......well.....unless you ask nicely maybe, LOL.

Oh, and on the Samsung....... As you can see its complete lines missing, so as such... not the panel itself per se.. but again.. depends on what components are mounted on the film part, or T-CON like you said, but could be as simple as a bad connection in those connectors. Those connectors are a real pain. Can take 20 or 30 tries sometimes to get them right. Check the edge of the film connectors real close. If there looks like distortion you can trim off an eight inch or so with scissors.

Oh, if it even has the film type connections, lol.
