I guess that's a possible way to look at it.
I do want "something" to use to tweak my projector. However,... I cleaned my Spyder II and now I use that diffuser or whatever that attachment thingie is and compared the profile it made for my laptop to the profile made with the Eye1 and they look the same. I got in the habit of not using the diffuser and I realize it reads better with it.
I think the "yellow" low end I was seeing when using my Spyder II to try to calibrate my projector was more user error than anything.
I'll try using it again and see if I can get good readings and a good looking result.
In the mean time I think I'll save for a while so that when I buy something to replace it I don't have to be limited to just the cheapest possible solution.
I do think I'll pick up a Eye1. It may be similar in accuracy to the Spyder II I have but it's much faster and better for the low end. And I like how "use-able" these budget meters are.
