Looks like there was some Z-wave issues and they will give you an 890 in return that does work with Z-wave.

I don't want the 890 and I don't use Z-wave so I am not going to use this...but thought it would be nice for people here to know.

Here is an AVS thread about it...

I think its a scam, I got that e-mail at both my .mac and my excite emails, I am only registered at .mac with logitech but, I am using both e-mails for my Bellow sales via Curtpalme.com . so its a phishing e-mail i would presume. If it was legit i would have got only one e-mail at my .mac account. Also when i forst got the e-mail last week i did a google search for class action lawsuit against logitech, i found nothing. this was about 7 days ago.

EDIT, Also the general manager is not that guy at the bottom of the letter its Kate Lathen. also i did a news search on my Sharebuilder account for logiteck and there was no news on a law suit which always show up on stock news sites, its a scam. look up that guys name he's some professor and some other people, nobody from Logitech.

I can't see that as a bargain. I have the 880 (same structure as the 890 they are giving as replacement) and the 1000. The 890 is not in anyway near the 1000. For one thing the 1000 is a large touch screen and the interface is significantly more intuitive. Unless Logitech is allowing you to keep the 1000 it's a bad deal, otherwise it's a good deal.

I am registered but received nothing from logitech. Anyone know an email address to send an inquiry to?

If I read everything correctly (I just skimmed it) if you have the original receipt...or a copy of the credit/debit statement showing purchase, then you can get an 890 and keep your 1000.

If you have neither but have a registered 1000, you have to send in your 1000 for the replacement.

I bought mine on eBay but then registered it. I don't think that eBay would be considered a legit transaction but I might try just to see if I can get another remote for free??

read the article. suppose it's limited to USA. if you can get an 890 out of it for free and keep the 1000 I'd jump on it. I got screwed by logitech because of the charger issue for 880's and left in the cold by logitech support to deal with a know manufacturer's defect.
