Does it just look green and the photo didn't get it? |
Umm.... I thought G90s always have the lighter/brighter C-element for a better brightness spec... Don't they all have to have the green C-element replaced for HT duty for correct green primaries.

It was about 2 feet. But let me explain, the original position was too far back. If I maxed the raster with the lenses off, when I put the lenses on then the corners of the projected image were rounded and I couldn't focus them. I had the PJ on a cart, it didn't matter how close or far away from the screen.
Anyway, I didn't intend to hijack this thread.

If you don't think there is enough raster usage, you'll quickly find out if you go any further, your corner focus will suffer. If I remember correctly, that is about the raster usage I currently have.

What Cliff said. I am not sure you can say they didn't know what they were doing. They may have had limited room to install the pj, but probably they were trying to make sure they had the sharpest image. A lot of people don't care about the loss in sharpness when maxing the raster, because you don't focus on the corner. This is a personal decision, so neither one is wrong.

Yeah, I have a client with a Madrigal attached to a beam below cathedral ceilings. The projector can't be moved and neither can the screen... the throw distance is too long, but nothing can be done so we live with it. It's set up as best as possible.

The image I posted is not a good representation for the color. In reality, the green is more evident although it is very light. The green on my G70 is noticably darker.
The red is very red.

Ah, THAT'S what you guys were talking about... The photo! That was the automatic color balance in the camera... The flash coming back from the green-tinted c-element got balanced back to neutral. You can tell because the white flash on the lens mounting flange (where it actually would/should have been neutral) is all magenta... It's funny... I see stuff like that, and my brain balances it back without even thinking about it.
Here... I tweaked it back toward neutral on the mounting flange, and it made the c-element go back to pale green.

C-element looks right to me. The OEM filter is REALLY light.

Finally got the the replacement tubes & DALLAS chip installed and hung the projector. I've attached a few images showing the installation. You may notice my mod to the mounting bracket to allow a single person to hang a crt.
Those fasteners Sony used to attached the lenses suck. Two of the screws heads stripped when I removed them. I replaced all the lens fasteners with stainless cap screws.
Now to work on the registration to see how those replacement tubes are going to work out.
BTW: The replacement green crt's coolant color is noticeably darker than the original.

Got a problem.
HDMI Source: BluRay-->PS3 (1080p/RGB)-->Onkyo Receiver-->Moome Card-->G90 C input (RGB)
I'm getting horizontal streaking. The B input is doing the same thing.
If I was using 5BNC input, I'd say I had bad cables/connections.
The Moome card didn't have a problem in the G70 I removed it from. Maybe the G90 mating connectors need cleaning. They have been unused for 10 years.
Interesting though if I set the G90 input to YPbPr there no problem but the overall image quality is poor.
Anyone seen this before or got any ideas what could be the source of the problem..

I watched a movie. It is obvious in between the streaking the G90 has the potential to display a fantastic image. The registration process is superior to the G70. Zone adjustment is almost unnecessary. With a little more effort, I should be ale to achieve perfect convergence across the entire image. Something I was never able to do with the G70.
The streaking problem is directly related to signal level. The more infomation displayed, the worse the streaking. During the closing credits the problem completey goes away. This makes me think this is a connections problem. Tomorrow I'l get some contact cleaner and clean the connectors.
