Item Under Review

While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)

We're working to fix the problem as quickly as possible.

I wonder if this is just a bad lot??

I am going to Best Buy to see how much they have it for and will match The Big River.

Its not a bad lot , i guess they sent out some BD 370 instead of the BD 390's. So something in the Amazon System Screwed up.

Well reading the reviews on the 390 it seems it is hit or miss with connectivity.

It has all the features I need so I will give it one more try. Off to see...

If you look at DHCP in your router do you get an IP address assigned to the player? Also if your using a 1GB switch sometimes those have problems connecting to a 10/100 device...If you have 10/100 switch put it inline and see what happens.

It is connected fine because I am streaming music and photos...just won't get to internet.

I moved it to the spare spots on the wifi router and it still didnt connect. It is getting an IP for sure because it tells you what it is on the 390 during setup.

I know it gets to internet because it loads up my Netflix queue but won't play the movies.

I think I will get another player with 7.1 outputs and then just get a Roku box for Netflix downstairs.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: Dammit..I just saw that Roku is only 720p out. I think 720p looks like crap on my projector (AKA never set it up right).

For my LG BH200 i had to set up the network manualy in the player and not use auto DCHP, give that a try.

IMO an XG looks crappy at 720p...The thing is too fricking sharp...I can see scan lines at 12 feet. I wish you could see how slick Media Browser is on an HTPC...Hundreds of HD 1080p movies seconds away with lossless audio....Life really can't get any better. Smile

Not really wanting to get back into HTPC at this point in the theater but it is tempting.

I may have overreacted a bit too. I put in Cars and it played...then tried Prince Caspian and it played.

So only Band of Brothers Disc 2 and The Dark Knight haven't played...strange things...

Disc's not playing is usually a Disc issue cause of the speed with wich the Movie companies are always changing the Blu Ray technology add on crap!!! The manufactures can't keep up, always changing menu structures BD live crap, extra java junk. Too much sh*t!! I just want a player that looks great with no other features for the theater!!! is that to much to ask for?

Its funny you say that...I recently bought a blu-ray player for my 78 year old mother...It was cheap Best Buy open box for around 90 bucks...Plugged it in to her flat panel with the HDMI cable. Too easy there, then started to show her how the menu works...FORGET IT....She could NOT figure it out...Finally she said just take it back...I don't think I can ever figure this thing out....It would be nice if they had a player you pop in a disk and the damn movie would just start. Like VHS was, insert the movie cassette it starts and play...How hard was that? I think that is probably why the online stuff sounds so attractive...Find a movie and watch it. It's just the qualtiy isn't there with the online stuff yet.

I had the unpleasant experience of Blu-ray hell last night. I just bought T-2 the Sky-Net edition {used},this damn version is just aching to have Sky-Net connect to the internet for you wether you to want or not.

The damn thing comes up with Sky-Net has detected a 2.0 Blu-ray capable player that is not connected to the internet, please enable internet for full Sky-Net access.

It would not let me bypass that crap for a good 5 minutes while Sky-Net was watching me. No, not really , but Just let me decide how I want to watch my movie, not your frikin Sky-Net bull****, hostage, holding crap....

It finally acquiesced and let me watch the movie, but it was VERY annoying Mad .

I just want to push play, and have the movie start.

I saw early in this thread you thought you would not use the 7.1 analog outs on the LG? Blu-Ray offers the lossless DTS Master Audio and Dolby Digital True HD over the analog outs if the player has an onboard decoder.

It does sound a whole lot better in these modes compared to the coaxial dd and toslinks. It is something to consider if your pre pro or Intergraded processor isn't cutting edge with the lossless audio over HDMI.

My processor isn't lossless capable with the HDMI connection, so this was important to me when I bought the Sony bd 550. Which I like very much and was $300, 6 months ago.

Edit I see the Panny has lossless so seems to be a reasonable choice. If you get one try out the analog outs, the difference is huge.

I have the analogs hooked up and watched a few scenes last night. A difference but at first it just seemed to be a volume difference. I suppose my hearing has been damaged past the point of hearing anything...but I also haven't watched an entire movie with it.

I decided to spend the same amount and try out a Samsung 3600. Has analog outs as well. Should be here Tuesday.

Also 1 other thing with the Lossless audio, you have to make an concerted effort to get to it, the menus almost always are defaulted to DD. So for the lossless audio you must go to the audio menu and select 1 of the lossless formats, or you will only be hearing DD.

I hope this was helpful and didn't come across harsh. Smile

Not at all. I have been having the opposite experience. Prince Caspian only had DTS-HD MA and a few of the other discs were default to the lossless audio.

I have a few discs that have DD+ and I imagine that might be the default instead of DD THD.

I suppose I have some time tonight to fiddle with it.

I was contemplating doing the buy at Best Buy tonight and return the Amazon unit to Best Buy on Tuesday that way I can play with it this weekend.\

EDIT: Picked it up. Quick setup for both wireless and wired. Netflix HD works fine....7.1 analog outs sound great. Very fast. Not going to regret the switch it appears. Won't jump to conclusions like I did with the 390. Embarassed

Updated to the most recent firmware and this thing plays 1080p Bluray rip MKV's as well from USB! Thumbs Up

Can't confirm lossless audio yet as I haven't been doing it in my BR rips. It isn't recognizing the chapters either but I can't really confirm that I do the chapters in MKV's right anyway.

Pretty happy with it so far. The new update also added Youtube and Blockbuster. This seems better than the LG390. The only thing it doesnt have is Vudu, Cinemanow and Coaxial Digital output. But in trade I get Blockbuster and Pandora.

Load times are about equal. Very fast. If you are using your PS3 just for watching movies I would consider upgrading now as there are several players that are about as fast now.
