I FOUND A PROJECTOR FOR SALE AND I'M TYING TO DO SOME HOMEWORK. HOPING SOMEONE CAN HELP IT'S AN AMPRO THE NAMEPLATE SAYS 69582.10 . I CANT FIND ANY REFERENCE TO THIS NUMBER ON ANY SEARCHES. IT'S BIG ABOUT 5 FT LONG AND HEAVY. IT HAS 9" TUBES AND IT'S WHITE. IS THERE SOMETHING I'M MISSING IN LOOKING FOR THE MODEL#.

That is really an old piece of crap and what you should do is get it and box it up and send it to me for disposal....

Yep it's a run-o-the mill 4600 with straight HD-10 lenses. If it's in good shape and the price it right, snag it, dump the lenses for better ones and your good to go for home theater. Do make sure you get the wired remote with it. Or you're S.O.L.
I know someone with a couple of them (actually HD versions) but he won't admit to it in public

I'm parting one out for the pristine green tube shortly, the other one is still in the US, I'll clear customs with it tomorrow. I might part it out as well. Shame really, but with P19 tubes being what they are, I can make more out of the set by using the tubes in other sets.

I have not seen any screen shots of this or heard that he has installed them and they are functioning well. Did I miss it some where?

Um, as always, a note of caution. I've owned a couple of 4600's, one of which had perfect *looking* tubes, which had very low output because of very high hours. They were the only EM tubes I've seen that had actually started to go soft from use, but the faces of the tubes were clear with no indication of wear, no browning, nothing to indicate the poor output and focus of the tubes...
Just saying, be diligent when you check it out, bring a source with you and hook it up and try the unit, check the brightness and contrast levels as well as the sub-brightness and contrast settings so you know you're getting a projector that doesn't have worn out tubes that are being overdriven to appear adequate...

No, you didn't miss anything. Most of the discussion was through PM. What I have is a 4600HD in the shop that I felt like experimenting with. I had stolen two tubes from it to re-tube my main projector. I gutted it and rebuilt the front end to take Marquee Optics. I then was offered a used Thomas tube to play with. Thanks Athan. I mounted the tube in a Quee liquid coupling and installed it in the 4600. The neck board mod is sort of a pain in the a$$ but workes perfectly. (I learned my soldering skills from Gary) Anyway, the green and blue neckboards can be modded in about 3 hours. The red is layed out differently and I haven't looked at doing one yet but it looks to be harder due to that difference.
You were involved in this. Remember when I was trying to get the projector to fire up with only one tube and "interlock" was preventing me from firing it up???
Anyway, I only have run it for 5 minutes but it looks as if the Thomas tubes will work perfectly in a AmPro. When I fired it up, internal test patterns were perfectly centered and well focussed. I'm still short 1 Marquee LC to finish the job.

What are you curious about the tubes or fitting Marquee LC's into a AmPro. I have another AmPro mod that I was working on with Scott. I had always wanted raster centering rings on my AmPro. As you know, AmPro's use electronic centering. However, at high scan-rates, almost full right shift is required to center it. Scott sent me what he thought would work in the form of magnetized rings. I modded a set of focus yokes and incorporated the rings on them. I set them to Scott for testing. The design was sound but the rings he sent me were bogus. My hopes for that mod was to reduce electronic strain and reduce heat. I need thin centering rings like the ones on a NEC PG. The large composite ones won't cut it.
See, just because I can't make a subwoofer amp work doesn't mean I'm totally numb..............close

My curiosity was that if these tubes would function properly and produce a quality picture then my quest for a 4600 will continue, knowing that one of the last difficult parts to acquire is some what resolved.. I think I would already have one but where we are at now there is just no place to properly set one up. Now if this damn place would sell already (damn economy)then the next place will require a mandatory room for this.

He's asking $4000.00. Seems like a lot but what do I know. I'm assuming I need some other gear to go with it to get a picture on my screen depending on the source. Is that true?
