AVRs with parametric per-channel EQ?

As some of you know, I'm working on specing a mini-ht for my dad. Since he has hearing aids (driving one of these...



...will do that) I'd like to try to get him an AVR with pretty detailed EQ, so he can set it up to work well for him. Apparently these hearing aids can be programmed in a lot of ways - among them with their own EQ - but right now he's trying to convince the hearing aid dude to reprogram them to not have compression that makes all noises equal loudness! Rolling Eyes

Anyway, are there any sanely-priced AVRs out there that can run a reasonable 5.1 setup and have multi-band EQ per channel - or at least on the fronts/center?

Or if not, are there any standalone devices that will do the same? With digital chains now I guess you'd have to have something with hdmi in, eq, then hdmi out to the avr, which seems like it would end up being somewhat expensive...
