I'm telling you one of these days I'm coming down there to see a fellow mad scientist at work!

dturco: Just keep at it, read read ask and read some more. You'll get it eventually.

I will read anything that will help. But how can you set up the raster with a big black square covering it?

Athanasios no problem. It fits. I still feel there is a problem and now I'm pissing people off . Just f*cking great.

ARRRRGHHH!

Why not just be patient, take your time, do the repair and learn to do the setup yourself. There are plenty of guys to help you here. I'm still a noob, and am still trying to get the best setup that I can. It's a hobby to me.

I say try to learn it yourself even if iit is frustrating. I just walk a way for a few days when something is bothering me. Greg Eisemann is in Silver Spring, MD and does repair work but I doubt he will any cheaper than what you are being quoted here.

I will try to be more patient. If I could only get past the raster thing would feel a lot better. I think the blue neck board is screwy because if the blue drops out and I tap on the side of the lens it comes back on. The convergence still won't line up
on the outside edges.

So here I go again.

Well at least I'm getting better at typing. Thumbs Up

I seem to remember that day well Tom Wink

Ahh yes the damn Smoking Marquee thread on AVS !!! Wink Thank god I had the old HDM from the other 8000.

I agree with Mike you should try to learn more about set up on your own, When Craig came to my
home he was doing my RPTV and the theater Pj two differnt charges. I did the marquee set up on my own and Craig was suprised how well i had the ratser maxed out and the PJ mopunted just right. It actually gave him little room to work with on the tube face but he managed, he spent close to 12 hours on the Marquee. He is the MAN!!!

Craig If I cant get this Blend calibrated correctly you may get a call Wink Just got a loaned Chroma 5 from Spectracal to test against my Display 2, i think it is off.

You know, I forgot it was that day Smile

You came home after I was at it all day and asked, "what's that smell." I said, "I don't smell anything," probably because I was immersed all day. And then (was it the LVPS) started billowing smoke! Funny how it picked that time to give up the ghost.

I wanted to come by when I was just in Buffalo. Trouble was that I had a day job and nothing after that. I drove home after and I knew I didn't have time because it was a 9 hour + car ride Sad after putting in 10 hours calibrating.

I'll come in to see the LongBows some time though!

Well, start by swapping neck boards between tubes.

Thank you Craig.
I will start there. But how about the on screen menu projecting a black square on the blue and red.And never dropping off on the green, during the mechanical set up guide, to allow raster cross- hatch to be seen?

Thank you again

I am regaining my composure Cool

You know I had this happen .. it might not be the same for you but worth a check. (and this is a little embarrassing .. but if it helps)

I was all caught up in the projector .. things were going wrong all over. (spot burns, pj turning off, not turning on) I couldnt get the menu to show up. All I would get is a black square where the menu was supposted to be .. no text??? I was always looking in the tube face and seeing text but then I realized the green wasnt bright enough to hit the screen.

Put some white screen up and hit color 2 ... is it green?

Thank you. But no thats not it. The green does project an image and text. The blue and red just display a black square on the tube face. On the screen I can see a grid pattern sticking out from behind the square wich will move with the remote commands but can not be seen in the black square on the tube or screen.

Thank you again

Hey dturco, if the projector came from Gary M's place, it's doomed. All others are repairable. Very Happy

Why not start a new thread on the dropping out blue problem. I'm sure others will chime in that might be turned off by page 1 of this theead.

Marquees are easy to learn and easy to repair (relatively speaking). I was staying out of this thread as well as I didn't want to step in if Mike was taking care of you, but if you want assistance, and I'm not stepping on toes, then I'll dive in with assistance as well on Friday\ as I'm off the computer for most of tomorrow.

HeHe Gary I think I'll do ten mods at once then WTF. Shocked

Curt you are very Gracious.I will start a new thread because this one has gotten to volatile.
And no your not stepping on toes. I will not be using Mike for the set-up or repairs.

Thank you
Dave
