and here's a working link you can use to replace the "3M lenses link ... ":
| Code: | | http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://cms.3m.com/cms/US/en/2-187/kkrcFFR/view.jhtml |
(although I have also attached that table to the end of the DOC in my previous post)

Thanks guys! Plenty of stuff to read I was quite impressed when I saw the quality of the HD10-GT17 (HD120) on my "new" BG1209s and I was wondering how these lenses compare to current standards. Just from looking at them, I guess it would probably still cost several 1000$ each to have those made from scratch (and only in volume).

well, as you can see the results for the anamorphic lens are very poor so far, and the lens is already too large.

By the looks of it, he is trying to build an anamorphic lens using two compensating cylindrical lenses (the first type: http://www.panamorph.com/Technology.html). For a CRT projector it may actually be better to build an anamorphic lens using the two prism system (like here: http://www.panamorph.com/Technology.html). One of the main distadvantages of the latter (chromatic aberrations) should be much less, because each CRT is essentially monochromatic and you could correct the distortions per color using the projector's convergence controls.

It be easier to blend for scope than use those lens's ,now try to move them for 16x9 content , and your still not useing allthe phosphor if he made them with use for a 16x9 raster, if he's using it on a 4x3 raster then it might be worth it, but i doubt you could compensate for all the geometric distortions you'd get.

I don't think it could work with one lens only due to lens toe-in.

Hmmm yes maybe a 3 angles lens \_/ less pronounced in angle. I think you would run into a fixed throw distance problem with a givin angle with no wiggle room.

ok here is a previous post i had about my scratched HD-10GT17's
| Quote: | here are some pics water and lightly pulling a tissue wont cut it i think
Lens 1
Lens 2
Sucks huh !
I tried some fine cut car polish by hand on one it didn't do any good but it didn't do any harm either as you can see it looked the same as when i got them, the third lens isn't as bad and i think it will be fine these are another story, what do you think?
Are the HD10 lenses that same I have a set of those I could try to remove these and swap them? Is it possible?
|
Well I was reading to posts on the C-elements and if its possible to have them tinted...I then began thinking of my poor useless HD10Gt17's and decided to take off the bottom lens or at least see if its possible with just regular tools......here are the results. Now i am going to look at the HD 10's and see how close they are, maybe a swap will fix them? Or i am sending them out to that Optics place i mentioned in the other thread. The lens is still in a smaller aluminum ring but That I don,t want to attempt to remove. Maybe the coating place can add the coating with the Ring attached?
I put Cellophane over the lens so it wont get any dust inside.
yeah i was Bored.......

Hi Nashou,
Did you ever find if the outer lens you removed is the same across the different HD10s ?
I have a scratched outer lens on one of the HD10s and was curious if the outer lens could be interchanged between the different HD10 flavors
