HI!

Ok I have a sony 1272 that runs @ 720p. My theater is 26feet long by 13 wide. I have 3 rows of seats, and a 106 inch diagonal screen. How close can I get the front row ? and each subsiquint row to the screen? The rows are as follows 11ft , 17 ft and 23 ft.

Sooo what are the inherent faults in this set up? I am way to close to the rear speakers in the back row.

I will not be changing to any other PJ anytime soon. (although I might try 1080i but Im not sure ill stick with it so unless there is a HUGE difference in setup sizes forget I said anything Smile )

What are optimal distances?

Is 720p enough for 26ft overall length?

OR am I feeding the need of ppl that like to sit too close, just right and too far away cuz they cant tell the difference in resolution anyway?

Thanks for you thoughts

Jester

I can post pics if it helps just may take a few days Smile

I like to sit close about 1/3 the screen width but I was always the kid that was front row centre in the movie theater.

Say front row 1.2-1.4 times the screen width away. So at 11 feet you are bang on.

Try it with a kitchen chair. Can you tolerate the scan lines any closer? Are they distracting to you? How are your eyes? If they are th eleast bit bad get someone with 20/20 to have a watch.

I like to have the screen fill my field of vision. Mr. Green

You're welcome.

That really is the best way to do it.

Use this excel spread sheet to find the best placement for your seats to minimize the nulls and peaks of each frequency. its a neat spread sheet.

I would think the first row, with the sweet spot seat, is close enough to be immersed, but not so close that you are revealing the scan lines to an annoying condition. The other rows are moot as who cares what the guests see. Smile
