Hi all -- I have a small dedicated theater room (roughly 12'x13') in the basement that needs help. I would like to start with the front and back walls.
On the front wall, I have a 92" 16:9 screen, surrounded by a set of black drapes. I have a valence drape covering the 18" above the screen, and approximately 24" of hanging drapes on each side. Question: should I consider additional sound proofing on the front wall? Specifically, should I put something behind the screen?
Question number 2: My rear wall is wallboard with an exit door and a small wooden panel that hides my equipment. (I know, really bad combination). What should I do to the rear wall?

O,
You might want to try the AVS threads for this. A lot more info there.
But, yes you do want to look at sound treatment on all four walls and the ceiling. Good carpet and heavy padding will do you good on the floor. Behind the screen will definitely show some benefits
