Awesome Andres!! I hope they make a difference thats noticeable. I am close to changing out almost every cap in the Marquee, what a daunting task.
I cant wait to see what you and Gino think. One thing it does do i lower the ac noise, that i messured with my scope on my board, I got the parts to make a couple extension boards so i cold do so. I wanted to test your but the parts came after i sent yours out, that lower noise should help keep the power clean to all other boards and along with Mikes power filtering at each board he does it will be super clean I bet !

Back in Madrid, about to board to Zurich, then Tokyo, then down under... another long ass haul! Not looking forward to it. Will report back when I have time, but glad to say it all got done and I believe Andres to be one happy blender. _________________ ( B )( G )( R )Blendzilla Down Under( R )( G )( B ) - Tubes of Fury

We installed one modded CLM in one of the projectors. Gino wanted to do one PJ from scratch yesterday (he wanted to tweak the focus) so we installed the new CLM in that one (I changed the CLM software chip as well as the chip on the DPB with the one I had in my Ultra CLM).
Good news is that it had no start-up issues. Kind of Bad news is that when we set the retrace to long, we had a fluctuating focus issue on the left side of the screen for all 3 colors (like the lines were fluctuating in focus). Fortunately this went away when we set retrace to short (phew!); which is what we are using right now. We managed to get a very nice picture on that PJ too (scanlines at 1080p @ 72 Hz, which we also had on the other PJ) but the difference, if any, wasn't super obvious . Since Gino left this morning at 6:30AM and we finished doing that PJ at 22:30 I didn't want to risk anything with the other PJ (that is very stable now) so we left that CLM as it was. I got the VDC Loader just in time but I didn't want to risk it. We started watching 2001 A Space Odyssey - the picture was really breathtaking. I am running a 12 ft screen at contrast 75 w/ frankenyokes!
We did not measure ftL on the screen but I can tell you it is plenty of bright, and very very sharp (I was not really expecting to get it this sharp, even at the center of the screen which is the blend zone).
So long story short, I am running one of the CLMs and both PJs are super sharp, the blend is very good (I still want to be able to introduce the blend curve programmatically, instead of "by eye", so now that the PJs are super-sharp, I'd probably write some software to measure gamma with a digital camera and calculate the perfect blend curve given a measured gamma curve (not just a number)).
Although this should be obvious now for anybody following the blend attempts: You need to be ultra-proficient in everything and do it to two PJs and then match them color wise. I already told Gino, I don't think I would have been able to do it without his help. I think you can get very good at everything manually (you have to be extremely disciplined, Gino is more disciplined than me...) and then for me the most difficult part is the color matching. He has the Sencore analyzer that helped, but his eye is almost as good...
I'd really like to thank Gino for helping me out with this. If you think about it, it is kind of good that there is somebody in the world who can make a blend this good, but on the other hand he happened to live across the planet (literally!); but at the end we (I really mean he) made it happen!
It is so funny: Before Gino was here I almost thought I knew my way in the Marquee. After having spent almost a week calibrating, I felt like a dumb assistant...

The advice i will take from Gino is to have a smaller raster(not so close to edges) I tried it out today and it does really sharpen up the edges. I am glad your blend is all up and running its been a very long time since you could really enjoy it. Now watch some movies before you do any more tweeking !!!

Andres,
Wanted to say thanks for all of the hospitality.
It was very nice to meet you and your family. All the hard work had been done before I arrived & the results showed!
Love the sound proof room but little Andres will be able to figure out that all the fun is downstairs in no time.

I've been killing time in Tokyo. It was a big mistake to have a 12 hour stop over here, I spent much more money than I had planned!
Finally last leg of my journey back home, then more time at the local beaches... I do live in paradise you know
I want to do a nice summary report of my experiences on this last trip, suffice to say though, I am completely blind wasted with all this free alcohol in the business class lounge (been here for 2 hours so far, party is going to continue on the plane fo sho!), so I'll save it for when I'm more coherent. _________________ ( B )( G )( R )Blendzilla Down Under( R )( G )( B ) - Tubes of Fury
