A guy in the US got a pair from GM a few years back. Very bright but not as sharp a picture as the 9" CRT's. Try googling it and adding AVS at the end. It might be in the archive somewhere over there.

Here are pictures of its predecessor, the 812:
Cool Cool Just look at that 8" (sony) tube for comparison Cool Cool

Each CRT has its own EHT board, quadrupler and splitter. That means it draws more current than other CRT's, that's why it has more lightoutput: 500 ANSI lumens. (Not peak lumens!)

Picture came from overhere:

Panasonic made the 12" tubes for the 912, and the lesser 812.

That picture comparing the 8" and 12" tubes makes me and my 1208s/e feel inadequate...but, but, we know how to use it!

...and it's worth more than the projector! *rimshot*

The other great thing about the 912 is that it has the radar signature of a hummingbird...

I saw a girl on utube that could handle that one.

The boeing engineer might be able to (if he was still alive)

OK, that's amazing. That's a SERIOUS lens. Can you imagine how much those bad boys cost? That thing looks like it's about the size of the air cleaner on a Freightliner! Awesome. Thanks for posting!

I hope nobody minds - I edited and resized to post here since the original was so big and grainy.

Thanks a lot, Pete. That whole thing had almost faded from my scarred memory. I REALLY didn't need to be reminded...
