|
|
I'm installing a DTV 1100 onto my ceiling. The ceiling is 7' 3" high. I've installed the Runco ceiling mount.
I recently invited 4 of my strong friends over to help install the projector thinking it could be lift into position, however I was wrong as the tolerances on the mount are to tight and you can't see the mount when lifting the projector from the floor. I don't want to try this method again for fear of loosing my friends. Even with 4 people lifting it gets tiring.
The failure of the brute force technique and the suggestions from other forum members inspired me to research other solutions. I settled on a product manufactured by Harken called the Harken Hoister ( www.hoister.com ). I purchased the 4-point lift system rated for 200 lb.
I constructed the lift system and installed the DTV 1100 in a single day without conscripting the help of any of my friends.
I'll post photos showing the sequence of events leading to a successful installation.

This is the same as a Barco 1209
http://curtpalme.com/Runco_Model_CrossRef.shtm
Maybe add that to the title.
You'll also get more hits in the CRT forum. Though this is the proper place to ask.
Could you or someone else climb up a ladder to get a better view of the connection and help direct the lifters?
Some people have used drywall lifts but they can flop around. There's also a Genie lift. I don't remember the model numbers.
Other people have installed electric wrinches in their attics; used chains; used ratchet straps; etc. Some pic of your ceiling mount and PJ mounting bracket would help.

I had one of my roomies haul the 1209s up with a block and tackle and hold it there while I made the attachments.... super easy...
