What's the practical difference between the 50 and the 50Pro? The HDMI 1.3 support? Is that really necessary with no content to take advantage of? How do you get the audio to the decoder? Since the scaler only has one output, do I need to DA it and send one output to the PJ and one to the receiver/decoder? Thanks

Adding the following the FAQ (first post of this thread):

If you owned Moome's previous DVI card and replace it with this new XG-FULLHD card, in some cases the projector may get confused and not recognize the new card. There is a one time procedure you need follow once to let the projector know you have a new card installed:
1. Turn off the pj and disconnect power or flip the switch off using the switch near the power cord.
2. Leave it off for a good 10 seconds until you see the indicator lights/display on the pj dim and go out.
3. Pull the XG-FULLHD card out to disconnect it. You only need to pull it out enough to disconnect it from the slot.
4. Re-insert XG-FULLHD with no inputs connected.
5. Plug power back in/switch on and turn power on the pj, making sure the initial input in use is slot A or B. If slot C was your default input, change it to slot A for now.
6. Now switching to slot C should work and you will get a 'new input' message (or something similar depending on your version of NEC)
7. Finally, with the source shut off, connect the hdmi cable and then power on your source. You should see 2 green lights on the XG-FULLHD, one next to the active input and the other between them to indicate a handshake. At that point you will have an image and will likely need to create a new SIGNAL ENTRY just by copying the one you had for your DVI card setup.
Hopefully this won't happen again unless you make it a habit of swapping out your older DVI card for the newer XG-FULLHD card.

Meski no scaling at all on my system when showing 2.40:1 BD movies I am setup for 2.40:1 screen and my raster is 2.40:1 sized
2.40:1 BD movies only have around 800 lines of resolution, I just set my scaler to actively look at the actual image part of the movie (no black bars) and then project it 1:1 untouched, no scaling at all
so my image with a 2.40:1 movie is 100% identical to a 16:9 1920x1080p system showing the same film and wasting bandwidth and scan lines on the black bars
it doesn't work for everyone but I view over 80% 2.40:1 movies so it made perfect sense for me

Interestingly enough I am looking at 2 Blu ray movie covers right now and they both say they are presented in 2.40:1 and a few lines below 'Full HD: 1080'. If both those are correct then the resolution would have to be 2592 x 1080?
Do you have any issues with the image folding over? I'm using a VP30 with a Sony BD300 and the moome hdmi in my XG135 and am seeing a lot of strange lines/waves issues in the picture when the BD300 plays a blu ray at 1080p and the VP30 is set to pass through.

You need a processor that will process HD to fix this by adjusting porch settings. I think the VP30 will do this but not well.
Gary would know the answer as to how well the VP30 would work for that.

blu-ray images are 1920x1080p, which is 16:9, so they letterbox 2.40:1 movies, meaning without the bars they have 800 lines of vertical info and still 1920 horizontal of course, there are no true anamorphic scope blu-rays although it has been discussed before, meaning the active image area would be 1080 vertical pixels versus the current letterboxing and 800, I seriously doubt this ever happening though, the case you mentioned is right on both counts, the image is 2.40:1 and there is 1080 lines of vertical info available with the black bars included
on the scaler part, you need to expand the image on the PJ via the horizontal control and then reduce the porch settings on the VP30 on each side to make the proper aspect image, I would not use the passthru, send 1080p/24 into the unit and let it output whatever you want, the VP30 is fine for that work just not deinterlacing 1080i input

I've fixed the porch settings on the VP30 using some of the settings that others have posted on AVS forum, so it looks 99% ok but I'll research how to determine the best settings for my set up.
The odd thing with the VP30 though is that it wont take a 1080p 24 signal from the Sony BD300. As soon as I switch it to that output it comes up with a blue screen. It will only allow a 1080i output. Is that one of the other shortcomings of the VP30?
With he porch settings now fixed and a bit of playing around with the gamma on the hdmi card and VP30 the picture looks sensational with this new Moome card!

Gary, how is the card coming now that you have had more time with it? I really want to get one of these but I'm concerned that I won't see much of a difference and might have problems driving an HDMI cable from my already voltage starved Onkyo receiver. _________________ "Coffee is for Closers."

I must say one thing though, you will have problems with your Onkyo HDMI output, the thing is super weak (at least in my experience with the latest Onkyos), you will need a booster for sure
I think monoprice has a HDMI 1.3 booster that would work very nice

Oh man, I have an itchy trigger finger for sure. Dam this Onkyo receiver, like you say the output is weak. I had a Monoprice switcher in the video chain just for voltage boost before but took it out after adding a power supply directly to my HD Fury. Currently I'm connected as follows:
Panasonic BDP-30K, Scientific Atlanta HD8300DVR, Toshiba A2 > Onkyo TXSR705 > HDMI to DVI adapter > HD Fury > VGA into RTC2200 VGA passthrough > VGA to 5BNC breakout cable to XG852.
I really want to go with the Moome card but I'm not sure I would be able to do it justice with my setup. _________________ "Coffee is for Closers."

I hear you.... me too, I am also a little conserned about the gamma range without a scaler. I don't want to lose that, but really don't want to invest in a VP-50pro + the Moome... OUCH!
