One of the things that's wlays puzzled me here is how to find a thread I had posted to or replied in? On AVS and other sites there's a very distinctive black mark or some other high contrast indicator to let you know but here it's very difficult o find a thread you were in unless you read all the titles and try to remember which ones you were involved in. Any suggestions?

Daganm, I am not sure if this will help you but if you click on your name your profile will come, and there will be a "Find all post by Draganm" in bold type face. Click it and all your posts come up.
But i do agree the search function here is not as good or thourogh like the AVS search engine.

Just click "search" on the forum page. In addition to specifying the string to search for, you can enter your (or whoever's) screen name to only get posts by that person. It's not a visual on-the-main-page indicator like AVS's, but it'll help you find your posts.

Any topic you post in you're automatically "watching" for replies. You can see all the topics you're watching by clicking on "My watched topics" which is only available to club members.

Hm. I'd never noticed that feature. I just tried it and it says I'm not watching any topics. And I *have* definitely posted in a few. Smile

Is this the same as the link that says "View your posts"?

Strange. Works for my user and the test user I use for testing new features.

Nope. "View your posts" lists all your posts. "My watched topics" lists all the topics you're "watching". These may or may not be threads you've posted in as you can "watch" a thread without posting in it.

"My watched topics" is a feature that I had to build in myself (not part of the base forum software), hence the reason it's a "Club Member" feature only. Wink

Doesn't hurt my feelings as I probably wouldn't use it much anyway, but it's definitely not auto-watching my posts.

FWIW I asked the same question as DraganM a while back and got the same answers. When I'm in a particular forum and I'm trying to remember what thread I replied to, it's not quite the same thing to search for all posts that I've made in all forums for all time. It's more to the point at hand for me to scroll through the thread listing in the current forum that I'm interested in looking for the thread(s) that I've posted in. If I'm in the CRT Projectors forum, I don't really care what I posted in the Audio forum.

If it can be done, I'd also vote for it to be implemented. But if it can't be done with this software, it can't be done.

My 2 cents

Gary

Anything can be done. It's just not part of the base software. I'll add it to the "todo" list but won't make any promises as a lot of these things take hours and hours (if not days) to implement and test.

Sweet!!

It looks to me like AVS and HTGuide.com both use the same forum software, but have slightly different icons to show you that you've contributed to a particular thread. I never thought that it would be a custom implementation, but maybe it is.

Thanks for at least looking into it when you get a chance.

Gary

I don't see "My watched topics", would this be because I'm not actually watching any?

You don't see the menu item on the main forum page or you mean you don't see any results when you click on it?

The link is here (see on the left) on the special menu item for Club Members:

Thanks Kal, wasn't looking in the right place, was looking on the far right.

I'll definitely be using this feature.
