I am currently running PDVD with XP and have no ability to adjust PDVD via my ATI CCC (HD2600XT). I have read PDVD uses overlay with XP and Vista uses EVR. If I move to Vista, using EVR/PDVD, will I gain the ability to make gamma adjustments with CCC?

Thanks,

Humm, I run Vista with an ATI HD3850 and right now I have no control of Gamma with PDVD alone. What is EVR and CCC? I do use an analog box for gamma but I'm always interested in new stuff.

Thank!
Mike

Mike,

EVR is enhanced video renderer and CCC is catalyst control center. To answer the original question, I believe PDVD still uses overlay for HD content in Vista but uses EVR for SD.

I'm using Vista but had Xp before and preferred Xp for HD and PDVD.

Ahh..Ok thanks!, SD-DVD??? What's that? oh yeah, I packed all those away with my LPs, 8-tracks, cassettes, VHS, Laserdisks & mini disks. Smile

Funny I feel the other way about Vista over XP for HD.

Mike

My only real problem with Vista is that it drops my powerstrip custom resolutions every time it goes to sleep, it also has to switch to vista basic style whenever Km-player starts up to play music. No real problems but with Xp everything just worked so any little problem really bugs me.

Yeah that switching thing is weird PDVD does that too for me. I use my HTPC as a very limited function box, basically just an HD-DVD/Blu-ray player, I don't rip or record. I just throw a disk in an watch it. I need to try and perhaps purchase Arcsoft again, the first release was a total bust for me. Interesting about the sleep thing, I have mine set to stay on all the time, so I haven't noticed that.

Thanks for the input. I was hoping for gamma control with EVR in Vista for PDVD. I guess the ATI cards simply do not allow gamma adjustment for PDVD in XP or Vista.
