I started redesigning the main page of http://www.curtpalme.com and figured there has to be an easier way. Curt also wants a separate pro sound website so I started thinking: Content Management Systems.

So I'm looking at converting the ~650 static pages on the main site to some form of content management system running on php and database driven.

The following seem to be popular:

CMS Made Simple
Drupal
e107
Joomla!
PHP Fusion

What I'm looking for basically is the "phpBB of CMS systems". Something that is extremely widely supported with 1000's of add-ons, and stable/fast.

I want to be able to things like post news stories on the main page at http://www.curtpalme.com (like I just did today but it's hardcoded - take a look!) and have it archive automatically, CSS feeds, and all sorts of nifty plugins.

The forum will remain phpBB of course.

I have a good working knowledge of PHP, SQL, HTML, etc. so some massaging of code isn't out of the question.

Any suggestions?

Kal

Kal,

I would take a look at E107... It has CMS available. Seems to be very stable.. I've been using it for a couple of years now... Take a look here if you feel like it.. However you will need to register to be able to see much.

Kal,

I did a tiny bit of research on it a couple of months ago... It seems like people really Joomla and Drupal the best, with e107 following.

Check these links out:

Read through the comments here - lots of good info on the CMS's you mention (comments by users) as well as some newcomer CMS's...

Yup - wordpress is great but it's just blog software from what I've seen.
