| kal wrote: | | What do you mean "no love for the Marquees?". You've got it backwards. It's quite the opposite. Marquee owners have had the VIM-HD HDMI card available for some time now, while NEC XG owners have been left out in the cold for a long time. |
Just a little disappointed that's all no biggie I know there have been other Marquees owners hoping for this increase in performance for a while as well that's all .
It was more like a spoiled kid who gets promised to go the Carnival on the weekend and then Mom says NO!... a little whining is to be expected ......
I can only Imagine when the new batch of "FULLHD" Marquee cards come out.
I know Marquees owners have had hdmi for quite a while, we have been very appreciative!!!! . I think probably Marquees cards have been his biggest market , SO I was hoping for a newer performance like was hinted at last year .
| kal wrote: | | It's not as easy as just plunking 'better parts' into the existing VIM-HD. The entire card would have to be redesigned/balanced/tested. A hell of a lot of research/testing going into designing and building one of these cards. You don't want to just start over every time a slightly better part comes out. You need to get the most out of your product cycle. Just changing one part can have huge ramifications.Kal |
I know ALL of that Kal !! I know what would go into it But there will be less motivation/ customers next go around ,so hopefully he does another run . I was hoping that once the 1.3 designs, and parts have been done for the SONY and XG most of the design bugs would have been worked out and be implemented relatively easy into the Marquee.

Nope. Sony is at least 3-4 times more popular if not more. Then the EXT-HD due to the universal nature. The Marquee VIM-HD actually sells very slowly.

Update: Only 5 VIM-HD cards are now left in the current batch. Moome tells me they're all on hand now so they will ship immediately and you should have it within a week or two.
Next batch likely ship in 2-3 months.

No chance that the next batch will be a new design? I can wait if I knew it would be 1.3.

|

Hello everyone,
I just received my VIM card.
I took the existing slot 2 card out of my 9500LC, and put the new card in its place. I still want to keep the slot 1 RGB input available. Is it correct?
I hooked a regular DVD player to it through component for testing, and pictures showed, but definitly needed convergence adjustment.
How did all you expeienced guys approach the entire installation process, from installing the card to getting perfect pictures?
Thanks.

No different than setting up the projector for any other resolution/refresh rate combo. Just go through the regular steps to set up the projector for the Marquee.
If you're not sure how to do that I would suggest posting in the CRT projector forum here as it doesn't really have anything to do with the VIM-HD at all. The Marquee manual is a good place to start. Marquee's also have a good on-screen step by step setup guides.

To order yours see: http://www.curtpalme.com/MARQUEE_VIM-HD.shtm |
This small batch of immediately available cards is now sold out. Moome actually had less than 9 ready to go in the end. Another really small batch (less than 6) will be ready in July for shipping. You can pre-order here: http://www.curtpalme.com/MARQUEE_VIM-HD.shtm

Oops - never mind! They're not sold out... There are still 6 of the VIM-HD cards available for immediate shipment.

Update from Moome:
There are only 2 VIM-HD cards left for immediate shipment. Once sold out I'm told that Moome moves on to other things he's been working on so it'll be a while before another batch of these cards gets made.

Update:
The Marquee VIM-HD HDMI input cards are SOLD OUT. Moome's not sure when he'll make a new batch. Probably not until Fall 2008.
To be notified when a new batch is made available, sign up for our newsletter. You may want to consider adding the new EXT-FULLHD instead.

Any update on Marquee Moome cards?
Are these a complete replacement for the Marquee VIM or do they piggyback on the VIM?

I hope these aren't stupid questions, but here goes:
I presume I should continue to think about upgrading the opamps on my VIM (per the Mike Parker thread)?
In thinking about switching, will the Marquee recognize the card as "input 2"?

Thanks Moome. Any update on timing on the Marquee cards?
p.s. two HDMI inputs, like the Sony cards, would be cool.
