I have decided to rework the entire analog output stage of my Xmeridian, from the DAC's out. I am building a seperate PCB for the filter network, and opamps, which will also have it's own external PSU to supply +-15V for the opamps. This will also allow me to cut the gain and output voltage of the card. I will be using 8 single channel opamps, instead of 4 dual's. I would like to use OPA627's, but I have only been able to source out 2 for now, still looking for 2 more for the Sub/Center channel, they are 8 SOIC. The surrounds will use LME49710's which are the same as a LM4562.
It should be an interesting project, and I will get some pics when it is done.

Mike Parkerish mods for sound cards....you may have your own little industry there. Have you thought of using the add on daughter card that's available for these cards?

The extension only adds another optical in/out and a couple other things, but does not do anything with the analog outputs. What I am building is a seperate card as well, and will fit into a PCI slot in the computer. The 3.5 mm outputs will be spaced farther apart allowing larger diameter cables and plugs to be used.
All resistors are .01% metal film, 2% poly film filter caps, seperate +-Regs for each output channel with bypass caps before the Reg and before the opamp.

It will fit in a PCI or PCI express X1 X4 X16 slot only to support the card, there are no connections to the motherboard.
