I'm a newby to Powerstrip and I have a few questions for those people that know the in's and out's.
What exactly are the front and back porch settings? What are they doing when I adjust them? Is it better to have a big or a small porch setting?Until I got powerstrip I had never heard of porch settings.
Does anybody have a link to a technical paper about this I can read?

I tried to add a custom timing (1440x720p) to PowerStrip and I can't change the V or H pixel count? Back space, delete, and pasting values does not work.
The method outlined below has worked in the past just not now.
Does having a monitor definition file matter ?
FYI: Courtesy of EnTech (PowerStrip)
PowerStrip stores your configuration setting in a simple ASCII text file, and maintains two separate backups if you need "restore points". It is not uncommon for the configuration file to be deleted or corrupted by, e.g., an abnormal shutdown, and in which case your custom timing would be lost; hence the backups should you need them.
Anyway: if you want an alternative method of restoring just your 1280x720@72Hz custom timing, do this:
1. PowerStrip menu > Display profiles > Configure
2. Switch to 1280x720 if you aren't there already
3. Click Advanced timing options and adjust the timing as needed
4. Now RIGHT-click on the little copy-to-clipboard speedbutton (next to the Cancel button), and answer Yes to create a shortcut on your desktop
Once the shortcut appears on your desktop, you can move it wherever you want. Should you ever need to quickly recreate the 1280x720@72Hz custom timing, just execute the shortcut.

I have a shortcut on my desktop for my 1280x720@72Hz but I don't remember if I created it in the manor you describe. I'll give it a try.
Unlike a normal display profile, which simply switches to the specified resolution and then applies the timing already recorded in the configuration file, the method I outlined above actually refreshes the timing information in the configuration file. I bring this to your attention because you indicated there was just one timing in particular that you were periodically needing to recreate.

Question, do I need to shut down powerstrip before I restore from the backup file. Is there a command I can put in the batch file to do this if necessary?
Yes you do. Try something like this in your batch file (w/o the comments of course):
Code:
pstrip.exe /exit // close PowerStrip
copy backup.ini pstrip.ini // restore your backup
pstrip.exe // restart PowerStrip

Anyone try using the non linear gamma with power strip? I tried using the ones that it comes with but it still seems to affect the high end gamma when increasing it.

Every time I try to add a res it says I don't have sufficient rights and I should restart powersrtip with "run as administrator"....powerstrip is already set to run as administrator...and I have disabled UAC.
Any thoughts?? I'm getting close to throwing this computer out the f'ing window!!

Here's a link with pretty detailed explanations:

I have also attached a PDF of that website

Thanks Kai, I've picked up quite a bit since I first started this thread back in Aug '06 but it's always good to have a refresher ( pun intended )
