Happy Holidays &
Updated Projectors for Sale List!
December
22, 2008
First off, a Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah,
Kwanzaa or whatever you celebrate. Regardless of
your belief, take some time off and enjoy the
season! Overeat, overdrink (don’t drink and drive!)
and worry about taking the lbs (or kgs) off in 2009
sometime. Snuggle up and watch a good movie or three
on your home theater, that’s what it’s there for.
Here in Vancouver, the weatherman promises a
continuous snowfall from Sunday Dec 21 to well after
Christmas, so it will be a white Christmas here for
the first time in years. So happy holidays from my
family (and 4 dogs, 3 birds, 2 cats, 9 fish and one
pot belly pig!) to yours!
My plan is to get all current parts orders and
repairs out before Christmas, and I’ll concentrate
on a few pending sales orders between Christmas and
New Years. I do hope to take a day or two off, but I
will be on the forum and will answer as many emails
as I can over the holidays. MUST-CATCH-UP-ON-EMAILS!
That’s the goal by January 1 anyways!
I’m reducing the price of a few sets, and am
blowing out a bunch of CRT projector parts for the
older ES focusing sets as the demand for them drops.
I’ve recently purchased over 50 projectors (Barco,
Electrohome and Sony) that will be parted out as
most of the tubes are burnt and parts demand for the
high end EM focusing sets continues to increase. You
will see a number of changes in the website shortly,
I’ll be working on that over the holidays, right now
the details are hush-hush, but if a couple of leads
work out, you’ll see a dramatic increase in CRT
projector business for me, and also a branching out
of the website into the pro audio realm, which is
where my background has been in the last 23 years,
long before the CRT online projector business took
off.
New Projectors and other goodies
(1) NEC GP 3000: I’ve got one good working excellent
example of the pre- PG series of NEC sets. Tubes in
excellent shape, setup remote included. This is a
full data grade set, capable of up to 720p. 600
lumens, EM focusing tubes. $200.00
(4) Barco Retro 808 projectors: These are CRT
projector chassis that were used in rear projection
video cubes. These were all used in the same place,
and all have about 3000 hours on them. No visible
wear on the MEC tubes (retro sets all used the
rebuildable MEC tubes, not the Sony ones), with
special short throw lenses that will shoot about a
50” wide image maximum. I’m selling these for far
less than I normally would, $750 per set. At this
price you can convert a front projection Barco 808
set to LC (you’ll need to source lenses that will
give a larger image), or buy these sets as spare
parts for an existing unit that you might already
have, or buy these for the tubes, which can be
dismantled out of the LC housings and installed into
standard FP mounts. Your choice. I will be picking
these up next week, they are currently in Seattle,
and I will most likely be scrapping a few of them
for parts and for the tubes. There are some pictures
of these sets
here.
(15) Barco 708/Cine 7 projectors: I bought 20 of
these as parts units with massive amounts of tube
wear, so I am parting these out, I have about 15
left. I will retube a few of these as I get good
tubes in, but anyone having a Barco 70X series or
Cine 7 is well advised to take advantage of my parts
blowout, as I have lots here. I am selling any PC
board out of the Barco 708 sets for $75 to $100
each, with the exception of the HV quadrupler. Email
me with the board part numbers you’re looking for,
as Barco did release several versions of these sets.
HD 145 lens sets are also available for $75 per non
color filtered sets, I’ve got two color filtered
sets at $100 per set of three.
I do have lots of Barco quadruplers in stock now due
to these sets, they are $250 including shipping
within North America, $275 outside of North America.
I am also getting in a total of 29 Barco Graphics
808s projectors in unknown shape. If tubes are in
good shape, I will be selling a lot of these for
less than the normal sales price, and again, I’ll
have lots of spare Barco 808 parts in stock.
(2) Sony G90: I have in two very good condition
Sony G90s in stock. Both have light G and B tube
wear in 16:9 mode, but are good for an estimated
6000-7000 hours of use still. I’m selling these sets
for less than I would a set that’s retubed, at
$3500.00 each with remote control and power cord.
The G90 is the pinnacle of CRT performance, razor
sharp and great for 1080p performance. Email me for
accurate tube pictures so you can see that the tube
wear is light. Of course, for perfection, I’ll put
new G and B tubes into these sets for $7000 total.
Again, less than these sets would normally go for.
(2) Barco 1209s. Again, superb performers, 9”
sets, 1080p ready. 1200 lumens, GT17 lenses. New
green tube. Blue and red in excellent shape with no
wear. $6500.00
(1) Marquee 9500 Ultra: 500 original tube and
chassis hours. Perfect condition, zero wear, case in
great shape. 1080p ready. $7500.00
(2) DWIN 700: Zero wear, near silent operation.
Great 1000 lumen small projectors. $1300.00 each
I’ve bought a lot of spare projectors as parts
units, so while DWIN has apparently gone out of
business, I have enough parts to keep these going
for years. I’ve also repaired a lot of these sets
now. I’ve got a couple of more DWIN 700 with
exceptionally light tube wear at $900 each.
(3) Marquee 8500s: I just got these in, and all
have minimal tube wear, I’d rate the tubes at an
8/10. excellent shape, 1080p ready, cases in good
shape.. Fully functional, ready to go. $2000.00
each.
(2) NEC 9PG Xtra: One small step below the NEC XG
Series, these sets ae in as new condition, no tube
wear, Astig control, can be run at 1080p with no
issues. Point boards installed, in great shape.
$2000.00 each.
(1) Runco 1100: This is based on the same Barco
1209s chassis as the SEOS units above, but this set
has red and green colored C elements installed. 6200
hours on the chassis. Black case. New green LUG tube
installed, the blue tube is an 8.5, the red a 9.5.
Excellent shape, remote included. GT 17 lenses
installed. Phenomenal shape. $4000.00
(1)
Barco 909: These have been selling really well, and
out of the 5 from the last mailout, I only have one
set left. Blue cases, not the boring old black ones,
these look really sharp, both case and picture wise.
Zero tube wear, perfect working order. c/w remote
and nice shipping box. Case is in great shape. These
are still a current Barco model, and Barco is asking
about $40,000 USD for these. Well beyond 1080p
ready, the chassis is completely reworked from any
other Barco set out there. As a bonus I do have some
spare parts for these now that I will keep in stock.
$10,000.00 each.
(1) Sony D50. If you’re looking for a small
projector that is bright, a late model and is easy
to set up, look no further than this ZERO wear Sony
D 50. Digital convergence, 800 lumens light output,
it has a built in transcoder so you can plug your
DVD or HD box into the back of the set with no need
for external transcoder boxes. The case is in nice
shape, the ceiling bracket is included as is the
original Sony remote. $1400.00
Video Processors
(2) Faroudja DVP 3000: Second from the top of the line
video processors. Excellent condition, fully tested.
$500 each1 Faroudja DVP 5000. This is the flagship video
processor that will transcode a 1080i video signal.
The unit needs to go to Faroudja for a software
upgrade so that it becomes a full scaler instead of
a 1080p output only processor. These sold for $1500
last year, I’ll offer this one to a lucky individual
for $1100.00. A steal if you’re going to scale an
HDTV input, or still use laser discs or other video
or Svideo source. Now is the time to upgrade to the
best $25,000 retail (when new) scaler!
(1) DWIN Transcanner 1: A good signal processor, this
one is cheep! $200.00
(1) DWIN Transcanner II: This one also scales and upconverts a 1080i HD signal, and this unit is in
great shape as well. Hard to find, A great
processor! $500.00
Incoming
(1) Madrigal MP9: This is a modified Marquee 9500
Ultra, with a fancy case, colored C element.
Condition unknown, should be here by January 1.(1) Sony G90. Condition unknown.
(?)
NEC PG Xtra
(?)
Sony G70
(29) Barco BG808s
(1) Ampro 4600 – may be a parts unit.
(1) Ampro 4300 may be a parts unit.
(2) Sony 1292. Unknown shape.
(1) NEC 10PG- unknown shape.
PARTS BLOWOUT!
I am clearing out a bunch of older ES (and the odd
EM) focusing sets parts that I have far too many of.
Listed below in point form. Email me if you think I
should give you a deal on other parts, I’ll do my
best <grin> This is a great time to stock up on
older parts that are getting harder to find. Lots of
these CRTs now are over 20 years old, and they’re
still running strong. With the large amount of parts
that I’m buying, I simply don’t have the room to
keep a bunch of the older ones.
Large boxes (you pick the size or weight for
shipping costs and purposes) of:
- ECP stuff. RGB and video input boards.
Deflection boards. A couple of high hour LVPS. Some
dead HVPS, Spellman and Keltron. AC input modules.
Select modules out of the card cage. MOst are
untested, but are assumed working. Some of the
deflection boards have snapped paper formers of the
coils on them, but these can be fixed with some glue
or heat shrink over the coil itself.
- Ampro stuff. Pre model 2000 items, I've got
everything in a 50-60 lb box, I'll break that down
if you want.
- Ampro 2000 and 4000 stuff. Everything goes pretty
much except for the CPU boards and the LV and HVPS.
I've got convergence reggie and output boards, RGB
and video boards, and all other parts for the sets.
- Deflection yokes. Almost every make and model,
I've got massive duplicates of. Not giving away the
Marquee focus coils with the stig winding, sorry,
but 'regular' Marquee 8000 focus yokes, I can spare
a few.
- Zenith PRO 851 parts. Giving away almost
everything save for the focus blocks and the HV
supplies that are really hard to find now. I've got
dozens of power supplies, convergence boards, CPU
boards, etc etc.
- Barco analog convergence projector parts.
Clearing it ALL OUT. power supplies, convergence
boards, H and V boards, and so on.
Selling cheap:
- Zenith PRO 900 power supplies. I've got too many
of the 4 boards under the tubes. They do fail
regularly, so I'll keep 3-4 sets here, but the rest
have to go. Ditto for some of the other boards. I'm
keeping all RGB Input boards, HV supplies and H
boards, as those are hard to come by. Say $20 a board plus shipping.
- Certain Marquee 8000/9000
boards. Mainly Composite input boards, heck, I'll
practically give those away, but I've got a bunch of
fixed heatsink convergence and vertical boards that
I'll never sell. Say $20 a board. Untested, but they
should all be fine.
There will be more, that's what I have now!

Klein K-10: World's Best Colorimeter now available!
December
19, 2008
We've
worked out an exclusive deal for our members to bring you this product at
a price lower than what everyone else pays anywhere on the internet! Buy direct
from SpectraCal at prices lower than buying off their own website! Same product,
same support, just more money in your pocket at the end of the day.
The Klein K-10 is a reference-class non-contact optical color meter with
superb accuracy, the fastest read times you will find, and superior performance
at low light. When you use a Klein K-10 to calibrate your display, you are very likely
using the same instrument the manufacturer used to test it!
Confused about meters? See our
FAQ: Which meter
is right for me?
This is an incredibly fast meter. In all our testing, we've never seen
anything that approaches its speed. Everyone who uses it for the first time
can’t believe that it actually finished a complete run in the same time many
meters would take for the first reading.
The K-10 can return results at low light levels beyond the point at which any
other meter we've seen gives up ― and it's still fast at those levels! (It's
also capable of returning accurate levels at extremely high light levels).
The color readings delivered by the K-10 closely map the CIE specifications.
The Klein K-10 and CalMAN Pro package is designed to eliminate the
frustration that professional calibrators have. One frustration is having to
make do with equipment that doesn't accurately measure color, especially at low
light. Another frustration is dealing with expensive spectroradiometers that are
slow and laborious. The K-10 coupled with CalMAN Pro solves these frustrations
with an accurate and fast colorimeter plus powerful software that is designed
for professional calibrators. This package is designed to save you time, save
you money, produce the most accurate calibrations and then report this to your
customers.
This meter comes with a 1 year NIST certificate from the manufacture. Every
K-10 undergoes individual calibration to make it accurate and to keep it
accurate in the field. Documentation of this traceability is included with every
K-10 we sell. Another calibration involves thermal compensation which works
behind the scenes, when the meter is used. So you don't have to worry about
temperature changes when performing a calibration.
The Klein K-10 has been used primarily for industrial uses, mostly by display
and LED manufactures for in-house design, testing and Q/A in the factories.
SpectraCal worked closely with Klein to get the pricing well below what the
performance would normally demand. If you have been looking for a Konica Minolta
or Photo Research but can’t justify the price this meter should fit the bill!
Flicker
Filter
The K-10 is a combination of a luminance meter, integrator and FFT analyzer
all in one. The probe measures luminance and integrates the data in the head.
This makes the K-10 an excellent choice for calibrating DLP displays. The color
wheel flicker of DLP displays can confuse many colorimeters (causing them to
synch on the color wheel), but not the K-10!
Read Head
Boot for Contact Mode
You can use the K-10 for both luminance readings (from the screen) and
illuminance (readings pointed directly at the projector). The K-10 ships with a read head boot which can be used to nudge the K-10
right up against a display. The boot is made of soft rubber so that you need not
worry about damaging the surface of the display. Because it removes all ambient
light, the read head boot makes the K-10 ideal for measuring reflective displays
such as plasmas.
Industrial
Strength Instrument
Unlike fragile lab instruments which cannot withstand transportation or use
in the field, the K-10 is a rugged instrument built to industrial standards.

Also on sale are the following CRT projectors:
Sony G90: Only 3166 original
hours on it. Very slight 16:9 green and blue
wear as is to be expected, but very usable. Case
in great shape. GT17 lenses on this one. Super
sharp, hey, it's a G90! We've put 10 hours on
it, it runs fine. Remote included. ON SALE FOR $4500.00. (it would be more of
course if the tubes were mint).
Runco 1100: This is a set that we sold
to Alan Gouger (who runs the popular AVS forum).
No tube wear, green and red tinted
C-elements, nice black case, GT17 lenses. Alan
decided to get a tricked out Marquee 9500 Ultra
from someone, so he's asked us to list the set
for him. It's currently at his place in New
York. ON SALE FOR $4000.00.
Vidikron 40HD: This is the equivalent
to the ECP 3100 (maybe 4100?). For a change, we
got this as a local set, the black case is in
great shape, no cracks whatsoever. Tubes in good
shape, slight wear, but nothing major. Will do
1080i/720p just fine, won't display 1080p. ON
SALE FOR $350.00.
All sale prices are in effect only until the end of
December.

Reviews/Testimonials
"... infinitely more flexible than my Harmony remote!" -
RalphArch
"Fast shipping! I got mine in 5 days. US to Canada!" - Analog Rocks
"The remote is several cuts above the usual slab 'o buttons. A learning
handset that's also pre-programmed with a large code library, it features an LCD
touchscreen as well as soft and hard buttons — all backlit. In a thoughtful
touch, the remote automatically turns on when you pick it up (there's a tilt
switch inside) and automatically turns off after a user-settable delay. And it
can use either infrared (IR) or radio-frequency (RF) signals to control the
system. RF is particularly useful when the control center is in another room
(maximum range is 66 feet). The control center's output for a supplied dual IR
emitter even lets you control other equipment in your rack with RF commands from
the remote. Of course, you can also create macros, which allow you to issue a
string of commands with one button touch. Finally, the remote has a serial port
so you can connect it to your PC and customize the touchscreen's layout and the
remote's operation using the supplied Freedom Edit Windows software." -
Sound & Vision Magazine
"Got the remotes yesterday and did a quick setup for basic home theater
functions. The remotes work really well and send RF out to my RCA brand IR
blaster receivers. I no longer have to point the remote at a specific spot to
control components. Deluxe!" - Loudmouse
"I received the remote control soon after you have shipped it. I am very
happy with it. Good service and very quick. It works well. Thanks." - Roland

Review Magazine uses Moome HDMI cards in their reference theaters featuring Sony
G90 and Runco 1200 CRT projectors. "We love our 9-inch CRT projectors,
even though we have our pick of the leading edge D-ILA, SXRD, and DLP
projectors." - Gary Reber, Editor-in-Chief and Publisher, Widescreen Review
The VIM-FULLHD card allows you easily add digital devices such as
Blu-Ray players, PS3, Xbox360, Satellite/Cable HDTV set-top boxes, and HTPCs with HDMI graphic cards (to name a few) to your
Marquee CRT projector. Simply plug the card into your projector, your DVI/HDMI
devices into the card, and watch!
This product is a culmination of everything Moome has learnt
over years of building DVI/HDMI input cards for CRT projectors. It is by far the
highest end Marquee card he has yet to offer with new features such as: Two 100%
HDMI
1.3 compliant inputs for Deep Colour support, better discrete 12bit D/A converters,
faster 1GHz
output buffer, and better op-amps for the best image quality possible!
Supply is limited and tends to sell out fast as this high-end
product for the discriminating videophile is only built in small batches.
This is the last HDMI input card you will ever buy for your Marquee CRT projector!
*Works with all Electrohome Marquee CRT projectors and clones:
-

Reviews/Testimonials
While the VIM-FULLHD board is new, it is identical in functionality to the
existing Sony IFB-FULLHD and
NEC XG-FULLHD boards. Only the interface to the projector is different.
"The board looks really good in the projector. I had a
nice gamma plot that I was going to post today but somehow I managed NOT to save
it properly and it was lost... so now I will have to redo the plot. I will say
this, I have the card / G90 set up now so that I can see the "just above black"
bar next to window patterns on my VP403 with windows from 0 IRE through over 70
IRE. This is with rich inky blacks and a perfect gamma curve of 2.2
through the entire luma range. The card has behaved flawlessly for my testing
and seems very solid. It also deals really well with long HDMI cables,
better than other previous cards I have seen. I do recommend it and will post
more info as time permits. I have done only a little calibration with it, and
the card already looks good. I've watched Sunshine, Mission Impossible 3, 5th
Element, Bank Job, Decent, and Ratatouille. Some of those are not exactly
reference, but the board is doing well. Sunshine with its black details and
dark glory looked absolutely fantastic. Everyone who was watching with me was
really WOWed. This is really a great card. I ran 1080x1920 @ 72 Hz today
for a couple hours at least. Coming through a monoprice, 22 gauge, silver plated
copper, 35' cable. No issues at all; no sparkles, no noise... just perfect. That
is not an easy test at all!" - Craig Rounds, official IFB-FULLHD tester, professional
calibrator (www.cir-engineering.com)
"I received my XG-FULLHD HDMI card today and I love it!
The picture is much better than what I was seeing previously. I was using a
HDFury with my Sony BD300 and VP30 video processor and was never very happy with
it. Now I have the VP30 plugged directly into the new HDMI card and the picture
is sensational. Couldn't believe how easy it was to install and setup.
Thanks Moome!!" - Rob
"...very quick install/setup and first impressions are that the XG-FULLHD
card is noticeably sharper than my HDfury/RTC2200 setup..." - Lance
"There is no doubt the XG-FULLHD card creates an image that is better than
the previous DVI card...colors are more natural, test patterns are sharper.
Is the card worth it? That would depend on your budget, and what you expect out
of this product. For myself, I say yes it's worth it...the PQ has taken a
step forward, and just looks 'right'. This card IS a step up in all areas of
image reproduction." - KennyG
"The color rendition of the Moome [XG-FULLHD] card is really quite
impressive. The first thing that hit me when going back to the DVI card was
how much better the HDMI card did to create a vividly lifelike image with more
subtle gradients. (See
here for XG-FULLHD vs HDfury screenshots)" - JArseneau
"... it is a true work of art from Moome, amazing in every way possible
... with the new NEC XG HDMI Moome card and my DVDO VP50pro video processor
outputting 4:2:2 YPbPr HDMI I have a image that has improved in nearly every
manner (See
here for screenshots) ... the crispness of the image has improved a lot as well, the
image is naturally sharper vs the older DVI card which looks slightly edgy
in comparison ... color resolution and naturalness has improved so much it is
unbelievable, I am so thankful to be able to get this card for my XG, it was
worth every penny and more! I just can't get over home much of a
improvement this card really is, the best way to describe it is like someone
took a hold of a knob on your system labelled bandwidth and cranked it out the
roof, the natural crispness and smoothness of the image is amazing, the
contrast ratio aspects of the image may be the biggest improvement of all. I am
now going to be giddy every time I sit down to do reviews and watch films. Thank
You Moome! You are a true master sir!" - Gary (Home Theater Forum
Software and Hardware reviewer)
"Thanks Moome for a great product and speedy customer
service! What a damned nice guy!" - Tacky
"The image is very sharp and the colours wonderfully vibrant and
realistic! The black levels are outstanding!! Its certainly given this XG135
a few more good years without missing out on the latest Hi def formats." -
Alan
"Finally installed my Moome XG-FULLHD card into my XG135LC .All sources fed
through a VP50 and the results are stunning. Had the projector calibrated by ISF
tech. Worth every cent." - Andrew John

GammaX: New
HDfury add-on accessory from HKmod
November 9, 2008
From the people who brought you the immensely popular
HDfury and
HDfury2, comes
the
GammaX
add-on accessory!
The GammaX is available
separately or in the new
HDfury2 Advanced Kit where it comes with
a few other new items.
Why do I need GammaX?
On most TVs and projectors movies and games are too dark or missing detail
in dark scenes. GammaX fixes this by adding a 'Gamma
Boost' without washing out the picture.
Simply plug the GammaX directly into the HDfury2,
HDfury, HDfury
Gamer Edition, or any device
with RGB output and enjoy a more vibrant picture with
perfect shadow details!
Using the original HDfury or HDfury Gamer Edition? The
GammaX
also includes a cable driver which lets you use monitor cables
or long RGB projector cables (any length) without having to plug the HDfury or
HDfury Gamer Edition directly into your TV!
The included power supply is not needed when the GammaX is used
with the HDfury2, simplifying the cables and connections. (The power supply is
needed for HDfury, HDfury Gamer Edition, or other RGB source users).
The GammaX is
100% Plug-and-play. No configuration or extra steps required.
GammaX works at all resolutions, including 1080p and beyond.
How does the GammaX work?
In most displays shadow detail is severely limited or completely missing. When there are a lot of dark areas in the picture they
simply appear as a uniform black area even though the original content has a lot
of detail. This phenomenon is next to impossible to
compensate for by conventional means such as increasing brightness as true blacks start looking grey and the
overall picture becomes washed-out.
GammaX selectively addresses only the correct black information of interest
(the shadow detail) to create a very dynamic looking picture with rich shadow detail. The level of correction is adjustable for
maximum detail for your particular display.
The following pictures show GammaX in action:

"I got mine today and it is FAB. Well done to everyone. Thumbs-up! The
[CurtPalme.com Special Edition] unit is ALL metal with the gold colour front
bezel. Weighs quite a bit actually. I have only had my XBOX 360 plugged into it
with HD DVD Drive add-on (yes I was one of the silly sods that bought one) and
the picture is far better than the HDFury1. Colour is spot on and not
washed out. I no longer need the audio cable from the XBOX as I have a small
3.5mm jack to jack cable from my HDFury2 to back of TV. " - Weehappypixie
"[The] Picture is stunning!" - Chorder
"I just hooked up the Special Edition HDfury2 to my Mitsubishi 55809
RPTV and it works like a champ. I am
now watching 'Luther the Geek' on a Phillips DVD player that upscales to 1080i.
HDFury2 appears to have fixed all the issues, as promised, that plagued those
trying to use HDFury1 with RPTVs (at least as far as the Pioneer's are
concerned). The picture is perfectly centered, there are no weird green lines,
and no swings in brightness that I had read about in other posts regarding
HDFury1. Awesome work. The colors look awesome, and sync locked automatically to
the input. No screwing around was needed." - Lexx21
"The new Special Edition HDFury2 works great with my Pioneer
SD-643HD5 RPTV." - Schmoe
"I want to congratulate you for a great product. I have a Mitsubishi WS55905
rear projection Television and have tried several devices to connect my PS3 to
my television to take advantage of upscaling. I just connected your HDFury2
and it works perfectly. The shifting has gone away and the colors, especially on
dark scenes look great." - James_Aguirre
"WOW! I must confess, I didn't really expect to see a difference in the
picture quality. Boy was I wrong. The picture is awesome. Everything works
exactly as it should. Dish VIP722 to Denon AVR-788 to HDFury2 to Mitsubishi
WS55511 TV (component YPbPr input) No problems whatsoever! Shipped on Friday,
arrived at my doorstep on Monday. Now that's fast. It doesn't get much quicker
than that." - Toejo
"... And just to let you guys know that are running things (Kal, HKmod,
etc....) I think what you are doing is outstanding! The way you are backing up
your product makes me trust you even more. You have a long time customer here
and I just wanted to say 'Thank you for your effort'. It is not going
unnoticed." - UGC

EXT-FULLHD
Universal HDMI 1.3
to RGB converter available again
November 2, 2008
Moome's
EXT-FULLHD
Universal HDMI 1.3 to RGB converter is
available again in limited quantities. Add HDMI 1.3
to any RGB capable display and start enjoying
Blu-ray and other high-end video!
Reviews/Testimonials
I've been using an EXT-FULLHD HDMI 1.3 to RGB converter for a few weeks now
instead of my HDfury/RTC2200 combo which is excellent its own right. I've also
used the previous EXT-HD for a few months as well as pretty much every other
HDMI to RGB converter at one time or another. The EXT-FULLHD is the best
converter I've used. It's better on all fronts: sharpness, colour, and less
noise. Compared to the EXT-HD, the EXT-FULLHD has a superior HDMI chip and a
superior separate video DAC which explains the improvements that I'm seeing. The
EXT-FULLHD is the sharpest HDMI to RGB converter I've used. I tested this mostly
at 1080p/60 and 1080i/60 (or more accurately 1080i/30). This sharpness
difference is subtle but it can be readily seen. The better the projector, the
more you'll likely notice it. Colours in the EXT-FULLHD are cleaner than the
EXT-HD and HDfury/RTC2200 combo. This may have partially to do with the lower
noise floor I'm noticing. The EXT-FULLHD is smoother with less noise. The
EXT-FULLHD just seems to have more small object detail. I also like the 0.7-1.0V
output (contrast) adjustment feature - very useful for projectors that like a
slightly hotter input signal. Well done Moome! This is best HDMI to RGB
converter yet and is the new reference for me!" - Kal (webmaster)
"I was rewarded with a great looking picture on my 10 foot wide screen.
Quality equals the 1080p version on my 62 inch Mitsubishi DLP so I'm very
pleased with this investment. I'm very satisfied. I had been thinking
about upgrading to a 1080p projector but seeing this picture convinces me that I
don't need to take that step." - Bill
"... mine if definitely sharper than either the Key Digital transcoder or
early model internal Moome card that I was using." - Bucketfoot
"I just recieved the new Moome EXT-FULLHD HDMI 1.3 version and set it up
quickly (gamma and gain levels set at .7vpp at 100ire) and I can say with just
brief watching time that it is an improvement over the last EXT-HD version
which I had done a fair bit of modding to. I guess it's time to do some mod work
on this new one too and see how much more I can squeeze out of it." - Walter

UPDATED: Projectors for sale list September 20, 2008
Our projectors for sale list
has been updated! We’ve got a lot of new sets in for
this listing, the website has been updated and there
are many high end 9” sets here.
Contact us if you wish to
make a purchase or for more information.
(4) Barco Retro
808 projectors: Only 4 of these left! These are CRT projector chassis that
were used in rear projection video cubes. These were all used in the same place,
and all have about 3000 hours on them. No visible wear on the MEC tubes (retro
sets all used the rebuildable MEC tubes, not the Sony ones), with special short
throw lenses that will shoot about a 50” wide image maximum. I’m selling these
for far less than I normally would, $750 per set. At this price you can convert
a front projection Barco 808 set to LC (you’ll need to source lenses that will
give a larger image), or buy these sets as spare parts for an existing unit that
you might already have, or buy these for the tubes, which can be dismantled out
of the LC housings and installed into standard FP mounts. Your choice. I will be
picking these up next week, they are currently in Seattle, and I will most
likely be scrapping a few of them for parts and for the tubes. There are some
pictures of these sets on our forum
here.
(1) Sony D50: If you’re looking for a small
projector that is bright, a late model and is easy to set up, look no further
than this ZERO wear Sony D50. Digital convergence, 800 lumens light output, it
has a built in transcoder so you can plug your DVD or HD box into the back of
the set with no need for external transcoder boxes. The case is in nice shape,
the ceiling bracket is included as is the original Sony remote. $1600.00
(3) DWIN 700: Similar to the Sony D50 projector above, I have three DWIN 700
projectors in stock that are in great shape. Virtually no tube wear, one has 400
hour tubes in it that I took out of a defective Barco 700. Virtually silent
operation, one of the smallest CRT projectors out there. c/w factory remote and
a ceiling bracket, these sets use sharp Toshiba tubes that put out 1000 lumens.
Excellent operating shape.
2 sets have very light wear on the tubes, maybe 1500 hours worth: $1200.00 each 1 set with zero wear 400 hours tubes: $1500.00
(2) Marquee 8500: I just got these in, and all have minimal tube wear, I’d rate
the tubes at an 8/10. excellent shape, 1080p ready, cases in good shape. Fully
functional, ready to go. $2000.00 each.
(2) NEC 9PG Xtra: One small step below the NEC XG Series, these sets ae in as new
condition, no tube wear, Astig control, can be run at 1080p with no issues.
Point boards installed, in great shape. $1800.00 each
(1) Barco 1209s: I have one of these high end sets left. These were originally SEOS curved screen projectors, and came from the Johnson Space Center. I’ve
installed mint tubes into the set, the green one is brand new, and there’s zero
wear on the R and B tubes. The case is black, and the sets are 1080p and beyond
capable. The case on this unit is black, and is in good shape. GT 17 high
resolution lenses are installed on this one. Another excellent deal for a fully
ready 1080p projector! $6000.00
(1) Barco 1209s: As is, left set for curved screen use, good red tube, bad G and
B tubes, no lenses $1500.00
(1) Vidikron Vision One/Marquee 9500LC Ultra: This set is identical to the
Marquee 9500 LC Ultra with a year 2000 build date, with some extras. First off,
I’ve added a Moome HDMI input card for 1080p plug and play. I’ve also added a
red C lens. These red C lenses are now discontinued, so I managed to get a hold
of three new ones, this set has one of them. Finally, the Vidikron set comes
with a gorgeous piano black finish fibreglass case that added thousands to the
original price of the set. The case is in really nice condition. I’ve got a foam
lined large shipping case for this unit as well, that will protect the piano
finish case well. Finally, I’m throwing a ceiling bracket into the deal! Remote
and power cord included of course. Low chassis hours, this set was installed in
a home theater, not used in a commercial application. Since I have a bit less
into this set than normal, I’ll reduce the price of the unit significantly, and
at $7000, this is one heck of a deal for state of the art 1080p performance!
(1) Marquee 9500 Ultra:
Under 600 original hours on this set! Mint condition everything on this set,
zero wear of course, perfect performance as expected. Ceiling bracket included.
$7500.00
(1) Barco 909: These have been selling really well, and out of the 5 from the last mailout, I only have one set left. Blue cases, not the boring old black ones,
these look really sharp, both case and picture wise. Zero tube wear, perfect
working order. c/w remote and nice shipping box. Case is in great shape. These
are still a current Barco model, and Barco is asking about $40,000 USD for
these. Well beyond 1080p ready, the chassis is completely reworked from any
other Barco set out there. As a bonus I do have some spare parts for these now
that I will keep in stock. $10,000.00
I’ve received 25 Barco 708 and Cine 7 projectors for parts. These came out of
a simulation environment, and have text wear on most of the tubes.
Unfortunately, most of the sets were damaged in transit due to a poor packing
job by the trucking company, but the good news is, I’ve got a lot of parts
available that I am now selling for cheap. If you have a Barco 7XX or Cine 7
series projector, you might consider picking up a few spare parts, as these
parts are priced for less than if I repair a board. I also now have 25
quadruplers in stock for the Barco 800/801/808/1208/1209 projectors. These
quadruplers are getting hard to find, and do fail from time to time in any of
the BArco projectors. Again, it doesn’t hurt to have spares…
Email me with any parts inquiry, but I’m testing all of these Barcos before I
pull them apart. A couple of the sets might have decent tubes, and if so, I’ll
be listing them in the next mailout. The three sets I’ve pulled apart so far are
in good working order save for text wear and scrapes on the cases and lenses.

NEW PACKAGE: RadianceXD Video Processor Home
Theater Kit
September 20, 2008
Purchase a RadianceXD video processor and get a FREE copy of
CalMAN Video
Calibration Software and an EyeOne Pro Spectroradiometer! That's an $800 value -
FOR FREE!
Not only is the RadianceXD regarded as the world's best video
processor/scaler, CalMAN is also the only software in existence that will allow
you to exploit its features 100%. The RadianceXD has a powerful Colour
Management System, and only with CalMAN can you take full advantage of it.
This package works very well together as CalMAN really has jumped far out
ahead of any other calibration software in terms of CMS support. With CalMAN,
you can zero in on a near-perfect CMS tuning in minutes, a job that typically
take hours without CalMAN. The RadianceXD and CalMAN were co-developed to give
video enthusiasts more precise control over color management than they have ever
had before.
This Colour Management System (CMS) is needed as most displays do not have a
CMS built in allowing you to perfectly calibrate the colours, gamma curve, and other
advanced features required when image quality perfection is the goal.
Most new displays today artificially boost or shift how they create colours
(especially green and blue) in order to boost light output and to make the
colours appear more 'vivid' or 'pleasing' to the consumer. What's important to
know is that this is completely incorrect and is not the director intended for
you to see! It results in incorrectly oversaturated colours causing (for
example) faces to to glow pink or grass to have neon-like glow to it as seen
below:

This is not something that affects only cheaper or incorrectly manufactured
displays. Displays at all price ranges are affected, from PC monitors to
expensive high-end home theater projectors like the JVC RS1 shown above. The
only way to fix these deficiencies on displays such as these that do not include
a CMS is by using the RadianceXD!

proper movie reproduction, see our extensive
Greyscale & Colour Calibration for Dummies guide. Learn how to get the best
image quality out of any display and more importantly, how to do it yourself!
